I never thought I'd finish this one

Do you know I can't remember when I actually started this blanket
but it feels like a long time ago.
I must check my archives to see.....but yayyyyyy its done now
& in situ in my bedroom.
I have to say it most def is NOT my fav, guess I'm just glad I'm done
with's a few peeks

I like it here on the back of my bed,
feels restful & dreamy & matches the colours there.
Isn't it so satisfying to have your own makes around the house
makes it all so personal & imperfect in the nicest way!!!!

So whats next.......I'm thinking a nice shawl.
Have two weddings coming up & would love a dreamy soft feminine
wrap to wear with the dresses I have for them.
If anyone knows some good pattern links I'd sure would
be grateful.
First dress fittings today, always make up a trial top of the dress
in some cheap fabric first to make sure of the fit (learnt that in college,
my technical tutor was a stickler for a perfect fit).
Old habits die hard I think.
Its always funny though to see the reaction of the wearer....
& I have to reassure them that I know it looks like
nothing & not to get excited....but the REAL dress will
actually look like a dress!!!!
The first one has to be done by this time next week, the
Bride is from Latvia & her sister is here for another week
sooooooooo dress number one coming up fast.

Anyway the weekend is here & I have friends
coming for dinner tomorrow, desserts need to be
made, veggies have to be peeled & chopped, plus
I promised a nice pasta dish for dinner today, fresh tomatoes & herbs
are waiting to be thrown together

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend
Lots of love Karen xxxx

  1. The edging on this blanket is so beautiful. I MUST learn how to do something like this!! Sigh........

  2. oh good luck with the dress. Although I like to sew for myself, I don't think I could ever make for such a big occassion as a wedding... very scary!

  3. It looks wonderful! Always nice to finish!

  4. I think your blanket is really sweet. It does look lovely on the back of the bed! xxx

Hope you're having a great weekend.

  11. Gorgeous colors Karen! Well done on finishing it! It sure feels good doesn't it? :)

  12. Your blanket is lovely and the edging finishes it off perfectly :)

  13. I think it's lovely, please when you say it's not your favourite, do it in a hushed tone so she doesn't hear! Ada :)

  14. So sweet, it would be lovely in my bed ;P

    Happy day ;)

  15. It's the hardest thing to start a big project and the love for it fades half way through! I tend to get 3/4s of the way through something then my mind wanders to something new, and, unless I love the current project, it becomes a hard slog to finish it! I love your blanket edging. It always takes me ages to decide how to finish a blanket off. I faff way too much! The joy though of being able to see the finished result and wrap yourself in it is DEFINITELY worth it!

    Have a super Monday!

  16. I love the pretty blanket! Have fun with your friends!!!

  18. You make dresses for weddings! Wow! The sister of my husband's Sri Lankan business partner showed me the wedding dresses she makes, all handbeaded, that take at least a month or two to make. Absolutely amazing! I don't sew at all so am amazed when folks can make anything wearable. Your blanket is so pretty. I have such a hard time choosing colors for anything I make. Hope you are having a good week. Tammy
